(From a home owner on Palo Verde)
It was a very cold and rather hectic evening, as I left my home on Palo Verde to dash over to my 100 year old mother-in-law's house. I was bringing her dinner and running late. My 3 month old granddaughter was nestled in her car seat in the back, and off we went. Suddenly the car took a gigantic lunge and swerved to the right and stopped. As I jumped out of my car, a neighbor who I hardly knew, Scott along with his sons, immediately ran up (they were working in their garage). Scott said, "I know what the problem is. You have a flat tire. Don't worry, though, we can fix it for you." Then with me and my baby granddaughter watching on, Scott and his sons very kindly proceeded to work on our car like it was in a tire shop. They had it changed quite quickly and soon we were on our way again, making it safely to our destination thanks to our kind neighbors! Thank you so much Scott and sons! You all are great neighbors!
This author saw a black car driving slowly down the street and stop a few houses down from me along the curb. Someone gets out, opens the trunk, pulls out a broom and dustpan and begins sweeping the road. Being naturally curious, I had to ask …? She was from up the block and saw what must have been the recycling truck drop some glass and it had shattered in the road. So, she drove down and swept it up. Thanks Sylvia, you are a good neighbor.
This award goes to Scott and Karen on Palo Verde. They had a Halloween setup for the whole neighborhood. Food, drinks, candy made it a special event. Thanks Scott and Karen, you are good neighbors.
